Submitting a play:
Users or participants may be motivated to share a play of their own for potential incorporation by the Company (the Purchaser) into a future product. Note that the play, content and ideas you create for this must be wholly yours (nothing taken from another source) and that you own the content before submitting. If you have used content owned by someone else, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the purchaser (the Company) so only submit your own content. Any work submitted will no longer be owned by you, as you assign ownership to the purchaser when you share the work. The intention will be for the purchaser to sell the play and you retain no rights or compensation beyond an initial payment if you are offered a payment. Your work can be edited or used in whole or in part. Your name as “author” may or may not stay associated with the play – If it remains associated, you may provide the author name you would wish to be attached to the work at the time of submission. You agree to these terms without restriction. If some portion of these terms is not applicable or is not enforced, it does not negate the remaining terms. Applying to be selected and participating in the process indicates agreement to these terms. Compensation for a submission is at the sole discretion of the Company. Compensation is given for only a few select plays and the compensation value is very small, so submit at your own risk.
What types of stories are we looking for? We are looking for dialogue of a short two-person play – a lighthearted interaction of two people connecting for the very first time. The play should be four pages long and is designed to be read by two people playing the roles of two strangers. The play should have closure but inspire people to continue discussing one or more themes.
The play should start with a short description (to illustrate the location, set the scene and describe the characters). Brief direction may be used as necessary if any actions are needed but the majority of the play is to be dialogue. – The play should generally be light-hearted and positive, not containing any serious crime, foul language, evil, hatred, violence or a life-threatening illness. The content should contain some flirtation but this should not cross the line abuse or perversion. Generally the content should be family friendly (though intended for adults). – The dialogue may include differences of opinion or different interpretations of a social norm, or be an experience of an event that can be shared. Most importantly, the content should be engaging from the start so that the readers want to see where the play goes. plays2play.com will try to respond to each play submission but depending upon volume, may not. Even if your play is great, it may not be used and we apologize for that. If you are selected, we will contact you.
If any one part of this policy or our terms is not valid, it does not invalidate any other part of this policy.
